Absolute Imaging
With a maximum print resolution of 2880×1440 dpi, Epson’s renowned Thin Film MicroPiezo head technology is used in the SureColor Prographics line. The TFP uses an electro-mechanical movement instead of competing methods that are based on heat. This method is gentler on ink chemistry, enhancing imaging with consistent output, consuming less power, offering flexibility, and ensuring durability. Micro-fine drop-on-demand nozzles enable superior dot shaping, reducing overspray and providing precise placement as well as volume/density control. The SC-P9000 color gamut has a head with 10 channels, a sophisticated LUT (look-up table), and an 11-cartridge supply system. Additionally, it includes automatic matte/photo black switching that maximizes dynamic range on various media types.
UltraChrome HDX ink is an elevated, water-based pigment ink with a wide color gamut, fast drying time, and water and scratch resistance. UltraChrome HDX ink’s all-pigment formulation contributes to vivid, long-lasting prints with excellent color accuracy and stability. Light black, vivid magenta, orange, and green inks enhance color balance and variety in prints, particularly in black and white and color prints. The increased Dmax and tonal range may also contribute to a better overall appearance and detail in the prints, making it ideal for fine art printing
Yellow ink enhances UV resistance, improving stability in printed images and preventing fading or discoloration over time. The light black ink option, useful for printing photos and fine art, reportedly covers 98% of PANTONE colors. The violet ink option, beneficial for specialist proofing and packaging work, reportedly covers 99% of PANTONE colors.
SpectroProofer In Action
Epson SC-P9000 printers undergo calibration during construction, ensuring color consistency among prints from multiple printers of the same model. The color constancy level of the ink used in these printers is less than DeltaE 1.0. This means that the prints produced by these printers will remain visually constant when viewed under different lighting conditions. To increase color accuracy and consistency, an optional spectrophotometer is available for use with all SureColor P series.
Designed for direct mounting on a printer, the SpectroProofer filters out ultraviolet (UV) light to ensure more accurate color measurements. It provides highly accurate measurements and, when paired with a RIP (Raster Image Processor), automates color management for precise proofing in workflows.
The SpectroProofer comes with three UV filtering levels (ISO M0, M2, and M1), letting users choose the most suitable option.
