Epson’s patented PrecisionCore Micro TP head technology with 2400x1200dpi resolution uses electro-mechanical movement, resulting in better imaging and stable output. Micro-fine drop-on-demand nozzles help accurate dot shaping, placement, and volume/density control for consistent results with less waste. When Epson introduced UltraChromeK3, it established a new standard for aqueous (water-based) ink technology. However, Epson has now developed UltraChrome Pro, a new ink specifically designed for the SureColor Production Series. This ink adds an extra black (gray), making it 5 black and 5 colors, to expand the color gamut. Prints produced using an all-pink formulation dry quickly and are water and scratch-resistant. Furthermore, with a high Dmax color, it stabilizes in just thirty minutes and can remain lightfast for approximately 60 years.

To maintain color proof and image consistency across different printers of the same model, the SureColor Production range undergoes colorimetric calibration during assembly. Additionally, the ink features a color constancy level below EeltaE 1.0. This is done to ensure the visual consistency of prints regardless of the lights and lighting conditions in which they are viewed.

Flexible and Easy to Operate

The Epson SureColor SC P20000 Printer is a free-standing printer that features a 64-inch (1,626mm) wide carriage and flexibility in terms of media handling. The device handles a wide variety of media, including basic bond paper, photo paper, transparent film, translucent backlit, and specialist synthetic media. It fetches roll media using a spindle mounting with integrated tension adjustment. Another notable feature is a high-speed auto-cutter capable of cutting most stocks. The spindle supports rolls with either 2” or 3” cores. In cases of a large volume of work requiring multiple media types, additional spindles can be ordered separately. An integrated barcoding system enables the tracking of individual roll consumption. This system also ensures the fast exchange of automatic reconfigurations for different media types.

It supports sheet media and contains a straight-through paper path meant for a solid board. The printer has a retractable output basket along with an optional auto-take-up system for roll-to-roll printing and offline automated post-production. The ATU can forward and reverse wind to facilitate secure edge-to-edge printing on both sheet and roll media, and it also supports full borderless printing on sheets.

The new SureColor production series has an advanced new media feeding System to ensure superior print quality, consistency and linearity at the highest production speeds. The new compass tracks the media as it passes through the printer, taking snapshots of the back surface and adjusting the feed roller to ensure smooth & accurate movement. New inductive rollers work to ensure consistent tension and parallelism with a reduced tendency for velocity changes and skewing, which can otherwise affect the output quality.

Epson UltraChrome Pro Ink Technology

Epson has introduced the next-generation Pigment Ink Technology to ensure superb color performance. Additionally, they have implemented better Resin Encapsulation Technology to ensure improved gloss uniformity.
Black density has improved by 1.5 times in the new Photo Black pigment than the previous generation. Overall contrast ratio and optical clarity have also increased considerably.
A completely reformulated pigment technology has helped to improve print permanence. This enhancement results in up to two times the overall print permanence compared to the previous generation ink set.
